Getting up to date is easier than you expect
We have seen it all
Illness, a business that got busy, an accountant who disappeared. Whatever the reason, we just focus on getting it fixed.
Every extra year costs less
Each overdue year is the standard price less 10% for sole trader and personal returns, 20% for company, trust and partnership returns. We scope every outstanding year and quote the lot as one fixed fee, in writing, before any work begins.
We deal with the ATO
As your registered agent we see exactly what the ATO has on file, manage lodgement, and request penalty remission where appropriate.
Same price as a current year, less a discount for doing several at once
The discount is on the return price. Add-ons such as a rental property or capital gains, outstanding BAS at $150 each, and any bookkeeping are at the standard price. Several years or several entities get one written quote for the lot.
| Each overdue year | Price |
|---|---|
| Personal return | $135 |
| Sole trader return, personal return included | $297 |
| Sole trader return, registered for GST | $407 |
| Dormant company | $264 |
| Company, not registered for GST, no staff | $352 |
| Company, registered for GST or with staff | $528 |
| Trust or partnership | from $528 |

Common questions about overdue returns
How much does it cost to catch up?
Each overdue year is the standard price for that return less 10% for sole trader and personal returns, or 20% for company, trust and partnership returns: a personal year is $135, a sole trader year $297, a company year from $264. Add-ons, outstanding BAS at $150 each and any bookkeeping are at the standard price, and bookkeeping is added only for years whose records need it. The quote for the lot is a fixed fee, in writing, before any work begins.
Will I be penalised for lodging late?
The ATO can apply late lodgement penalties, but getting up to date voluntarily puts you in a much better position than waiting. Where there are genuine reasons for the delay we can request penalty remission on your behalf. We cannot promise outcomes, but we can make the strongest case available.
How many years can you handle?
As many as are outstanding. Two years or ten, the process is the same: we confirm the list with the ATO, quote it as one job, and work through it.
I have lost records for some years. Is that a problem?
Usually solvable. Bank statements, ATO records and software history let us reconstruct most of what is needed. We tell you exactly what is missing and how to get it.
My records are a mess. What does that add?
Bookkeeping, before the returns can start. It is $80 per hour inc GST, estimated before we begin, and on a catch-up the quote shows the hours for each year so you can see where the cost sits. Years with reconciled records skip it and go straight onto the return price. See bookkeeping support.
Will you judge me for being this far behind?
No. Overdue returns are one of the most common situations we deal with. The only thing that matters is getting you back on track.
What if the ATO is already chasing me?
Engage us and we become your registered agent, deal with the ATO directly, and let them know a catch-up is underway. That alone usually takes the pressure off.
