What we do

From shoebox to reconciled

01 / Catch-up

Backlog cleared

Months or years of unreconciled transactions coded and reconciled, so your accounts finally reflect reality.

02 / Cleanup

Messy files fixed

Miscoded transactions, duplicate contacts, GST errors and unbalanced accounts sorted out properly.

03 / Tax-ready

Set up for a fixed fee

Once your books are reconciled, your tax return qualifies for our standard fixed-fee pricing. That is usually the whole point.

Tax-ready records

What tax-ready means

Our fixed fees assume your records are in this state. Most clients on Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks with a live bank feed already are.

  • Every bank and card account reconciled to its statements for the whole year, in your accounting software or a clean spreadsheet of income and expenses
  • Every transaction coded to an income or expense category, with GST coded if you are registered
  • Invoices and bills matched, no long list of unreconciled items
  • If you have staff, payroll run through Single Touch Payroll and finalised for the year, super paid
  • Asset purchases, loans and finance identifiable from an invoice or statement

Not there yet? Bookkeeping is $80 an hour. We look at your file first and tell you the hours before any work begins, so the fixed fee stays fixed. Fixing BAS or GST mistakes is the same rate, agreed the same way.

The process

How it works

01

Show us your books

Grant access to your accounting software, or send us what you have, and tell us roughly where things stand.

02

Get an estimate

We review the state of the file and give you an hours estimate before any work begins.

03

We tidy things up

Transactions coded, accounts reconciled, GST checked. You get a short summary of what changed.

04

Straight into your return

With clean books, your tax return proceeds at the standard fixed fee. No re-quoting, no surprises.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about bookkeeping support

How much does bookkeeping cost?

$80 per hour inc GST. We estimate the hours before starting so you know roughly what to expect, and we flag it early if anything changes the scope.

How many hours will my file need?

It depends on the state of the file, which is why we look before we quote. You get an hours estimate before any work begins, and on a multi-year catch-up the quote shows the hours for each year. If the estimate moves once we are in, we flag it straight away rather than billing past it.

When do I actually need bookkeeping?

When your records are not reconciled: transactions that have not been matched to your bank statements and categorised, a spreadsheet with gaps, or a year still in a shoebox. If your accounts are reconciled in your software, or you have a tidy spreadsheet, you do not need it and your return is the fixed fee on the page. Send what you have and we will tell you which side of the line you are on before any work starts.

Why is bookkeeping hourly when everything else is fixed?

Because nobody knows the size of the job until someone opens the file. A return has a known scope, so we can publish a price. A year of unreconciled transactions might be two hours or ten. We estimate before we start and flag it if the estimate moves, which is as close to fixed as honest pricing allows.

What software do you work with?

All the majors: Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Wave, Reckon, Sage, Zoho Books and others. Not on software yet? We can help you pick and set one up.

Is this ongoing or one-off?

Either. Most clients use us for a one-off catch-up before tax time. Some keep a small monthly allocation so the books never fall behind again.

Why do fixed-fee returns need reconciled books?

The fixed fee prices the accounting judgement, not data entry. Reconciled books make the return predictable, which is what lets us publish the price. Bookkeeping support is how you get there.

Can you do my BAS while you are in there?

Yes. Quarterly BAS is $150 per statement once the books are reconciled, $250 if it carries payroll, and outstanding statements are the same price each. See our BAS lodgement service.
